Quantum LRF Sensor-Based Security Technology for Military AI MUM-T Systems
FineVT Robotics LAB is developing a next-generation security solution for safe and reliable Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) operations. The solution integrates Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG), Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), KCMVP-validated cryptographic modules, and a remote Quantum Key Management System (QKMS).
This technology is designed to protect imagery and target information collected by EO/IR/LRF sensors while strengthening the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission-critical data exchanged among unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned ground vehicles, robotic systems, surveillance assets, and command-and-control systems.

Quantum-Sensing EO/IR/LRF Integrated Sensor
The SR-Z50 is a high-precision, two-axis gimbal sensor integrating a laser rangefinder, high-resolution optical camera, and thermal imaging camera. It is designed to detect and identify long-range targets and acquire precise distance and location information during daytime, nighttime, and low-visibility operations.
Key capabilities include:
- Laser range measurement at distances of up to 1,500 meters
- 1060p-class optical imaging with up to 20× zoom
- 640 × 480 thermal imaging
- Day, night, haze, and low-visibility surveillance
- Still-image capture, live-video transmission, and video recording
- Support for reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition, and military operations
The sensor can also be applied to civilian and public-safety missions, including search and rescue, wildfire monitoring, environmental observation, border security, critical-infrastructure protection, and anti-smuggling operations.
Hybrid Quantum Security for MUM-T
Future battlefields will connect manned forces and multiple unmanned platforms through integrated operational networks. These systems must securely exchange real-time video, positioning data, target information, sensor outputs, and command-and-control messages.
This environment requires advanced security capabilities to prevent communications interception, data manipulation, unauthorized system access, cryptographic-key exposure, and cyberattacks.
FineVT Robotics LAB proposes a hybrid quantum-security architecture that integrates QRNG and PQC technologies with VPN-based KCMVP cryptographic systems and remote QKMS capabilities.
The architecture provides:
- High-quality cryptographic-key generation based on QRNG
- PQC-based protection against emerging quantum-computing threats
- Mission-data protection using KCMVP-validated cryptographic modules
- Centralized key generation, distribution, storage, renewal, and revocation
- Encryption of video, voice, control commands, and sensor data
- Integrated security for wired and wireless communication networks
- Hardware-based cryptographic processing using secure SoC and HSM technologies
- Scalable integration based on TCP/IP and Ethernet standards
Application Across Multiple Platforms
The proposed technology is designed as a modular and scalable security solution that can be integrated into various manned and unmanned platforms.
Potential applications include:
- Reconnaissance and surveillance multicopters
- VTOL and fixed-wing unmanned aircraft
- Drone stations and remote-control systems
- Unmanned ground vehicles
- Multi-legged robotic platforms
- Manned-unmanned combat vehicles
- Long- and short-range surveillance systems
- Target detection and acquisition equipment
- Mission-equipped UAVs and specialized platforms
- Command-and-control and integrated monitoring systems
Its modular architecture also enables phased expansion to autonomous mobility systems, IoT devices, LTE and 5G networks, AI-enabled drones, and robotic platforms.
Core Technology Advantages
FineVT Robotics LAB is pursuing an integrated security framework that connects sensing, platform operation, communications, cryptographic protection, key management, and command and control within a unified architecture.
By combining hardware-based cryptographic processing, PQC algorithms, QRNG-generated keys, and remote key-management technology, the system is designed to securely transmit high-resolution imagery and large volumes of mission data without compromising operational performance.
This approach supports the advanced information-security requirements and multi-platform interoperability essential for future military MUM-T operations.
Expected Benefits
The proposed solution will strengthen the communications security and operational reliability of manned-unmanned teaming systems while improving resilience against cyber and electronic-warfare threats.
Applying quantum-security technologies in alignment with Korean defense and information-security requirements will also support military operational suitability, enhance domestic technological competitiveness, and establish a foundation for entry into the global defense market.
FineVT Robotics LAB will continue integrating AI, autonomous systems, EO/IR/LRF sensing, Counter-UAS, quantum cryptography, and command-and-control technologies to develop more secure, intelligent, and mission-ready MUM-T solutions.
