FineVT Robotics LAB Presents Eastern European Defense Export Strategy at the 2026 JDI–KRAUV Defense Innovation Partnership Forum

Research Director Sejin Oh highlights combat experimentation, operational validation, international cooperation, and localization as key foundations for sustainable defense exports

FineVT Robotics LAB participated in the 2026 JDI–KRAUV Defense Innovation Partnership Forum held in Seoul, where Research Director Sejin Oh delivered a presentation titled “Combat Experimentation and Eastern European Defense Export Strategy.”

The presentation introduced practical experience and strategic insights accumulated by FineVT Robotics LAB while developing cooperation networks and exploring new business opportunities in the Eastern European defense market. It also outlined a market-entry strategy designed to support the sustainable expansion of Korea’s defense industry.

A Market-Oriented Strategy for Eastern Europe

European countries are accelerating defense modernization in response to rapidly changing security conditions and emerging operational threats. However, successful entry into the European defense market requires more than advanced technology and competitive products.

In his presentation, Sejin Oh emphasized that Korean companies must develop a detailed understanding of each country’s:

  • National security priorities and threat environment
  • Defense modernization objectives
  • Military operational requirements
  • Procurement systems and evaluation procedures
  • Defense-industrial and localization policies
  • NATO and European interoperability requirements
  • Geopolitical interests and international cooperation structures

Based on these factors, FineVT Robotics LAB is pursuing a country-specific strategy that connects technology development, operational requirements, combat experimentation, local partnerships, and long-term market entry.

Combat Experimentation as a Foundation for Defense Exports

A central theme of the presentation was the strategic importance of combat experimentation.

Rather than focusing solely on exporting individual products, FineVT Robotics LAB believes that Korean defense companies should demonstrate how their technologies perform under realistic mission conditions. Combat experimentation enables participating organizations to verify operational effectiveness, identify technical limitations, validate interoperability, and collect objective performance data before full-scale deployment.

This approach can support the development of credible operational references while reducing technical and operational risks for prospective customers. It can also demonstrate how Korean technologies can be integrated with the receiving country’s existing command-and-control systems, communications networks, sensors, weapons, and operational concepts.

FineVT Robotics LAB presented the following strategic framework for sustainable defense-market entry:

Combat Experimentation → Operational Validation → International Cooperation → Localization → Joint Market Entry

This framework reflects FineVT’s view that long-term defense exports should evolve from single-product transactions into integrated cooperation programs covering joint research, field demonstrations, system integration, local production, training, maintenance, and lifecycle support.

FineVT Defense Consortium: An International Cooperation Platform

FineVT Robotics LAB is expanding its international defense cooperation through the FineVT Defense Consortium, which involves 23 global companies across 11 countries.

The consortium is designed to combine complementary technologies and market capabilities in areas including:

  • Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)
  • Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Counter-UAS)
  • Artificial intelligence and autonomous operations
  • Electronic warfare
  • Secure tactical communications and data links
  • Manned–Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T)
  • Command-and-control and multi-domain integration
  • Advanced sensors and mission payloads
  • Simulation, training, and combat experimentation
  • Emerging defense and security technologies

Through this cooperation network, FineVT Robotics LAB aims to develop mission-oriented solutions that respond to the actual requirements of partner countries. The consortium also supports joint technology validation, local industrial participation, integrated proposals, and coordinated entry into international defense markets.

Expanding Korea–Europe Defense Cooperation

During the forum, Sejin Oh shared FineVT Robotics LAB’s experience in engaging with international partners and developing strategies for Central and Eastern European markets.

He emphasized that sustainable success requires Korean and European companies to cooperate from the earliest stages of a project—including requirements analysis, technology development, testing, and operational validation. Localization should also extend beyond assembly or production to include technology cooperation, workforce development, operator training, maintenance capabilities, supply-chain participation, and long-term operational support.

FineVT Robotics LAB intends to continue building partnerships with Korean defense companies, international technology enterprises, research institutions, military stakeholders, local governments, test and evaluation organizations, and defense-industry clusters.

Through these partnerships, FineVT aims to establish an integrated export ecosystem in which Korean technologies can be validated under realistic operational conditions, adapted to local requirements, and introduced to international markets through credible cooperation structures.

Commitment to the Global Expansion of K-Defense

The 2026 JDI–KRAUV Defense Innovation Partnership Forum provided an important opportunity to share practical market experience, strengthen cooperation among Korean and international defense companies, and explore new pathways for the global expansion of Korea’s defense industry.

FineVT Robotics LAB will continue to advance international cooperation in unmanned systems, Counter-UAS, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, secure communications, and combat experimentation. The institute will also work to transform individual technology exports into sustainable international programs based on operational validation, localization, and joint market development.

“The Eastern European defense market cannot be approached through product exports alone. Sustainable cooperation must connect combat experimentation, operational validation, international partnerships, localization, and joint market entry. FineVT Robotics LAB will continue building a practical international cooperation ecosystem that creates long-term value for both Korean companies and partner countries.”
