The global drone market, which was worth $18 billion last year, is expected to grow to $43 billion by 2024, and excellent Korean drones have laid the first groundwork for advancing into overseas markets.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Kim Hyun-mee) led a joint public-private delegation including 10 domestic drone companies to participate in the ‘Africa Drone Forum (ADF)’ held in Kigali, Rwanda from the 5th to the 7th.
Korea operated a special pavilion for the Republic of Korea and 10 domestic drone company exhibition halls at the ADF. As a result of consulting with buyers from 20 countries in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, we successfully completed 110 export consultations worth 34 million dollars. We also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a local African company, and it seems that export contracts worth over 3.8 million dollars will be concluded in the future.
At this forum, which we participated in at the invitation of the World Bank, our government widely publicized the achievements of our drone policy and explored the possibility of our domestic drone industry entering the global market. Rwandan President Paul Kagame, the Minister of Construction, and the Minister of Information and Communications requested special meetings with our delegation, showing special interest.
In particular, in the case of Africa, drones are being used to deliver emergency relief supplies due to poor transportation facilities such as roads compared to the vast land area. In addition, great interest is being shown in land surveying, map making, and safety inspections using drones, and it is expected that a huge drone market will open in the near future.
